Privacy Policy

The short version

The tools run in your browser and calculate their results there. Nothing about a test run is stored unless you choose to send yourself a copy. There are no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics on this site.

What happens when you run a test

Your browser sends DNS queries directly to public resolvers operated by Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, Control D, and CleanBrowsing. Those requests go from your computer to those companies — they do not pass through our servers, and we never see them. Each of those operators has its own privacy policy governing what it does with queries it receives.

The timings are measured and scored in your browser. The results you see on screen are not transmitted to us.

What our own server sees

• Your IP address, used to rate limit the API so one visitor cannot exhaust it for everyone. It is held briefly for that purpose and is not used to build a profile.
• A domain, if you enter one. We look up its public DNS records — nameservers, DNSSEC, and certificate policy. This reads published information only. Nothing belonging to you is scanned, accessed, or changed.
• Ordinary web server logs kept by our hosting provider.

If you send yourself a copy

Submitting your email is optional, and the full results are shown before that form ever appears. If you do submit it, we store your email address, the domain you entered if any, and a short summary of the findings, so our team can follow up. We do not store the individual measurements. You can ask us to delete this at any time by emailing support@distributeddns.com or calling (580) 448-0440.
